Howard W. Baker
Howard H. Baker, Jr. served as a United States Senator from Tennessee from 1967 to 1985 and as President Reagan's Chief of Staff in 1987 and 1988. He won national recognition in 1973 as vice chairman of the Senate Watergate Committee. He was keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention in 1976 and a candidate for president in 1980. He concluded his congressional career by serving two terms as Senate majority leader and two as minority leader. Senator Baker received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Jefferson Award for Greatest Public Service Performed by an Elected or Appointed Official. His photographs have appeared in Life magazine, National Geographic, and his previous books, Howard Baker's Washington and Big South Folk Country.




 
John Netherton
John Netherton has been a nature photographer for more than thirty years. His work has been featured in twenty of his own books and published in hundreds of books and magazines including Audubon, Birder's World, Wild Bird, National Wildlife, Natural History, Nature's Best, and Outside. He also writes a regular column for Outdoor Photographer.

Netherton's photographic work affirms his personal philosophy of respect for nature and his commitment to recording it with passion and sensitivity. He was presented with the Governor's Outstanding Tennessean Award in 1998 and has been honored with an overlook named for him at Nashville's Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

Netherton has traveled and lectured extensively throughout the United States and abroad. A resident of Nashville, he is the father of three sons–Jason, Joshua and Erich–and father-in-law to Melody.
